JJ Yeley is featured in the March issue of Nascar Illustrated. The article highlights JJ’s unfortunate midget race accident last August, which resulted in surgery on three fractured vertabrae in his neck.
The timing was not good for JJ, he was actively pursuing a ride in Nascar after losing his ride in 2008 with Hall of Fame Racing. Not knowing how long the healing process would actually take after surgery, JJ continued to pursue any opportunity that might help get him back on track with a Nascar team.
After four months of healing, which to a race car driver can seem like an eternity, he planned to take his TCR midget team to Tulsa in January for the Annual Chili Bowl Midget Nationals, with another driver in the seat.
With a call form his doctor, clearing him to race, JJ found a ride in the #67 that day. We can only imagine the adrenaline rush that JJ was feeling as he jumped into the seat for the first time in four months, with no time for even a practice run. JJ went into his first heat race and won. The crowd of over 14,000 cheered as he crossed the finish line. JJ was back!
JJ is diligently pursuing a Nascar ride, making calls, meetings and doing whatever it takes to continue in Nascar racing. He has the experience in all three Nascar series and feels he has what it takes to compete with the best of the best.
Hopefully the article will open the eyes of a team and sponsors looking for what JJ has to offer, experience, knowledge, personality and the hunger to win!
