CONCORD, N.C. — Kristen Yeley, wife of NASCAR driver J.J. Yeley, kept the pedal to the metal to win the fourth annual Better Half Dash Thursday afternoon at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
"It feels pretty good," Kristen Yeley said after celebrating in victory lane. "I've been doing this for four years, so it is really special (to win).
"The foundation I am racing for (Yantz's Son Is Back Foundation) is really close to my heart. My dear friend lost a child this past May and my girlfriend started the foundation to raise awareness for organ donation for children."
Nearly $70,000 was raised for several charities, including Yantz's Son Is Back, Motor Racing Outreach and Speedway Children's Charities.
Heidi Stoddard, wife of NASCAR team owner and NASCAR America analyst Frank Stoddard, finished second, while Melanie Self of Motor Racing Outreach finished third.
"I made a promise to Sherry Pollex and (former NASCAR driver) Shawna Robinson that I would see them in victory circle," Self said. "This was for these ladies who are fighting cancer."
Ashton Bayne, wife of NASCAR driver Trevor Bayne, finished fourth, while Adriene Pattie, wife of crew chief Brian Pattie, was fifth.
The rest of the finishing order was Jenna Robinson (sixth), Jordan Fish (seventh), Karlee Hensley (eighth), Ashley Allgaier (ninth), Ashley Stremme 10th) and Amy Reimann (11th).
